Design, display, delight: how these entrepreneurs stand out in a crowd of 100,000 at the Mobile World Congress

Launching a product is just one part of the startup journey; marketing and exhibiting is another challenging step for entrepreneurs embarking on global growth.

PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory, with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation. In the earlier 300 posts, we featured an art festival, cartoon gallery. world music festivaltelecom expomillets fair, climate change expo, wildlife conference, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, and jazz festival.

It’s one thing to come up with an innovative product or service, but another altogether to find market fit, paying customers, patient investors, and competitive advantage. Unless you have the rare distinction of a truly viral product that drives itself in the market, entrepreneurs need to aggressively market themselves and showcase their offerings at exhibitions.

The annual flagship event of the global mobile industry is the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, which attracts over 100,000 visitors each year. Innovators showcase their products in nine giant hangar-sized halls, and it’s hard to rise above the din and clutter of the traffic.

Storytelling is an important part of the startup pitch (see the YourStory Changemaker Story Canvas and suggested tips for pitches and business cards), but chances are high that you also have to showcase your product and team at exhibitions. Messages need to be even more clear and compelling while exhibiting at international events outside your comfort zone.

In Part III of our photo essay on MWC exhibitors, we showcase not just the innovation teams, but also the creativity in their exhibits, logos, pitches, and eye-catching marketing quirks (see also Part I and Part II of our MWC 2019 photo essays).

In this pictorial essay, we feature the designs and teams from Entrust Datacard, Neqto, FastStream, Alaris, Multiplica, Notyx, MSG91, IKI Mobile, Elf6, Lucid Design, MicroWear, RetiCare, QuStudio, Queres, WizblPay, AppNext, Ulefone, AdPone, Orain, Milcontratos, Cyrcle, BemyApp, and SayEasy.

Their offerings span cyber-security, IoT sensors, predictive maintenance, business process automation, digital transformation, cloud AI, voice interface design, automatic translation, mobile games, SMS messaging, app analytics, specialised phones, wearables, eye-care, mobile marketing, ad platforms, digital intelligence, e-payment,and even robotic lawnmowers.

Now, what have you done today to take your product message beyond your usual interaction circles to the broader market outside, and refine the creative pitch?
