Zomato delivery executives are queuing up outside this restaurant. Here’s why
Have you ever landed up at a restaurant only to witness that you are behind an insanely-long queue, mostly of delivery partners? If the answer is yes, you might just relate with this post about Hyderabad’s claim to fame - biryani - a long line of Zomato delivery partners, and biryani facts that might just “blow your mind”.
A picture of Zomato delivery executives outside a restaurant in Hyderabad.
It all started with a picture that the foodtech unicorn recently shared on its social media platform, of a scene outside Hyderabad’s Bawarchi. Known to be one of the iconic biryani joints in town, it receives an insane amount of orders daily. To put it in perspective, Bawarchi receives a whopping 2,000 biryani orders every single day.
And it so happened, that one day – when the picture was taken – the place was crowded by a hoard of Zomato delivery executives. Decked in their signature red and white tee-shirt, the men were seen waiting in an unbelievably long queue for their respective biryani orders.
Don’t believe us? Just check the post shared by Zomato's official handle on Twitter.
“Which restaurant from your city deserves this kind of a queue?” the online food delivery platform asked, adding a cheeky post in the same thread which read,
“Oh BTW, this picture was taken outside Bawarchi restaurant in Hyderabad. The total number of orders they receive in a day will blow your mind.”
Now, everyone knows that biryani is straight from the heaven, and if it’s Hyderabadi biryani, there’s simply no comparison. And if you had even an ounce of doubt, this photo should set the record straight!
Zomato currently lists over 1 lakh restaurants in India and has a last mile delivery fleet of 180,000 partners. Recently, it released its Annual Report for FY19, highlighting its performance in the last year and also showcasing some interesting trends when it comes to the food ordering habits of Indians.
“70 percent of Zomato’s regular users in Kolhapur had never tried food delivery in their life (even over a phone call), and Zomato was the first food delivery experience of their lives,” the report stated, citing another interesting anecdote where one of its delivery executive literally went an extra mile to deliver an order.
“A Zomato delivery roved across the Brahmaputra River on a boat, in the city of Guwahati, to deliver Chicken Hakka Noodles. It took around 1.5 hours in total to make the delivery.”
