Our journey to VedaKavita Baluni
I always knew that I want to adopt a baby girl, looking around in our society the way girls are treated always made me sad inside. So, I promised myself that one-day I am going to give a girl, a home.
Before marriage I shared this with my husband, luckily, he took it really positively. So, we came to this conclusion that we’ll have our first child through adoption. I never dreamed of adopting a child with special needs, I believe it was destined to happen this way. We never came across the word “Down syndrome” till last year while in US, when we saw few kids with Down syndrome, we started exploring internet and watching the videos about it. We spend next few weeks, months gathering detailed information about Down syndrome. As we got more into it, we were really inspired to adopt a baby with Down Syndrome as we couldn’t find any reason why not to do so!
So we came back from USA to register ourselves with CARA in March. And after home study I found Veda, a 15 month old baby girl in physical disability section and reserved her. She was in Bhopal.Within a week we were all set to travel 800 kms from Delhi to Bhopal, just to meet her. As she was legally free, with 45 days of registration we bring her home.
We named her Veda.
