“Engineering colleges…huh! Which one to choose from? I am scratching my head from day to night but still cannot decide anything…There are so many of them don’t know which one to apply for?” This is the situation of every student when they have to choose between engineering colleges.

The best colleges in India are rich in faculty, infrastructure, quality education, research productivity and has good faculty rate. The institutes offer numerous engineering courses. With the increasing economy, the demand for engineers and engineering courses is increasing day by day. Engineering courses are available at both graduate and postgraduate degrees. One is always pious in choosing between government and private engineering colleges. The most sought for government engineering colleges are the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). They are the best engineering colleges but it is difficult to get admission in them.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) is independent public institutions. They are declared the “Institutes of National Importance” and are headed by Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. The admission to the best colleges in India, the IITs is through JEE entrance exams. To be eligible for the exam the candidate should have passed 12th standard from a recognized board in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. For the admission in post graduation degrees in the IITs, the candidate needs to take entrance exams like GATE, CEED, etc. The IITs are handled by the IIT council. At present, there are 21 IITs in the country. The seat intake of these best engineering colleges is approximate 11000.

The National Institute of Technology (the NITs) is also categorized amongst the top engineering colleges in India. Currently, there are 31 NITs in India. The NITs also accept the JEE entrance exam score for admission in engineering courses. If one doesn’t get through the IITs, they need not worry as they have an option of the NITs which are also the best colleges in India.

The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs) is one of the best IIT colleges in India. They are the institutes of National Importance and offer both undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses. Like the other best colleges in India, they too accept JEE entrance exam score. Naming a few of them are IIIT Allahabad, IIITDM Kurnool, IIIT Pune, IIITDM Kancheepuram, IIITDM Jabalpur, IIIT Guwahati and IIIT Kota.

Besides the above-listed institutes, there are other reputed Institutes, State Universities, Public Colleges and Private Colleges that accept JEE entrance exam score for admission in engineering courses. Naming a few of the best engineering colleges Birla Institute of Technology & Science Pilani, Thapar University, IIEST Shibhpur, Amity University, Delhi Technological University Delhi, Panjab University Chandigarh, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Sastra University Thanjavur, Assam University Silchar and much more. There are other well-known private institutes that have their own entrance exams like the Manipal Institute of Technology Manipal, Mittal Institute of Technology Bhopal, Usha Mittal Institute of Technology Mumbai, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), etc.

When deciding upon the best colleges in India the candidate should also check for the institutes NAAC (National Assessment Accreditation Council) and NBA (National Board of Accreditation) accreditation. It is necessary to check for them as it ensures the quality education of the institute. A candidate who has studied from NAAC and NBA accredited institutes is guaranteed a bright career. These also help the best colleges in India in improving according to the current methodologies.

We can thus say that there are in numerous engineering colleges that provide quality education with latest standards but it is challenging to choose between the right colleges. One has to be very selective of the same.
