Startupmentor.co.in , is all about giving wings to entrepreneurial aspirations across the globe. The best feature is transporting those wings through thin air!! Virtually, correctly and through the much travelled trajectory!!Right to the destination!!
Virtual Incubation of startup dreams is the central theme of startupmentor.co.in
Startupmentor was founded towards the beginning of 2015. As a current entrepreneur, am the Sole Founder of the organization. I have 23 years of employment experience with India’s Top Brands like Reliance, Philips, Vodafone, Cadilla, Serco. I also do international consulting with GLG Council on E commerce market in India. Having cofounded an online education vertical, Careerfutura.com, and reaching it to the top, known as the largest career counseling company in India, I ran the full cycle from employment, consulting, semi entrepreneurial journey to now a complete entrepreneurial journey. My background of a Bachelors in Physics & Electronics Instrumentation, Masters in Computer Science, Diploma in Business Management, Customer & Accounting Analytics certification from University of Pennsylvania, serve as an apt combination to virtually get into every aspect and every vertical of entrepreneurship.
Startupmentor has an impressive list of Guest Mentors like Sashi Reddy, the founder of SRI Capital as well as Founding president of TiE Philadelphia., Dr.Rajendra Jagdale, the Director General of Science and Technology Park, a government of India enterprise, Padmaja Ruparel, President of Indian Angel Network and who has built India’s 1st & Asia’s largest angel investor network ,Smita Pethe, founder of VERJINIA FOODS , awarded the Best Woman Entrepreneur from Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry. , Dr. Sudhi Ranjan Dey, Vice President with United Nations Higher Education Development Council for Africa, startup success story heroes like Paawan Nanda, Ceo & Founder of Zostel, Rakesh Kalra, Ceo & Founder of UrbanPro and seasoned technocrats like Dhananjay Bendre,Senior Director with Oracle & Rajneesh Kacker, a defence stalwart
The assignments that I kept getting as an International consultant, from GLG Council, coupled with references for mentoring of young minds for their entrepreneurial journey and the undying aspiration to become an entrepreneur with interests in Technology, Health, Food, Education led me to think, of a model, which would allow my passion to pursue all these areas, thus gave birth to a platform, which could aggregate mentoring skills of seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, called startupmentor.co.in
Having mentored an online baby product portal, from scratch to producing level, mentored e commerce into an existing business, thus bringing down acquisition costs in the pesticide segment, create a prepaid distribution model in the education field and creating many more of such success stories propelled me towards building a facility, where field, vertical, segment, skill or expertise is not a limitation. Mentoring for starting up, scaling up, diversifying, acquisitions & mergers became the basket of the dream of my entrepreneurship.
Clinching 8 assignments in a year, with a six time return of investment, without essentials like an office, website was the moment the business model crystallized.
Self funded for the first year, and then a small fund raised through friends, gave birth to the full fledged organization.
The startup ecosystem in our country has fund starved startups and a majorly not for profit incubation centres. Mentors who are available are also largely Pro Bono. Thus the growth of startups, though, India has the biggest basket of ideas and brightest ones too, is not taking place at the pace it should be. Factors like the massive population, therefore volume of ideas, unemployment among the educated, the fantastic awareness of startups and their success, the government initiatives for startups, not so conducive work environments are certainly pushing the startup movement to a large extent. The flooding of PE/VC funds in India, motivates them all.
But how, when, where are questions that prevent most of them to start. And even if they start, 8 out 10 die on account of having discouraging results. Meaning, we lose out of at least 5 brilliant ideas, that could have been a winner, had they received the required guidance, timely and structured funding.
This is where startupmentor.co.in can play that very important and crucial bridging role. I plan to take the platform deep into the interiors of our country. The penetration target is to simply go where internet can. My vehicle of message is internet. I am passionate about driving home the point, that entrepreneurship is an attainable avenue for the enterprising and spirited men and women of our country. Remove the myth of skills required like language, qualifications, money, background etc. I have the bare essentials to welcome them. I have mentorship experience, a vast board of mentors, Incubation centre alliances, investors and technology to carry out the scale. The idea is to mentor a minimum of 100 startups every year, with a span of 12 months of incubation. Thereon, grow to 1000 a year.
An aggregator of startups and the facilitators for them to succeed, is the objective. A platform where one can get mentors, incubation centres and investors. A single point, to come , discuss, showcase, get incubated, get groomed as a saleable and scalable startup , get investors and then set on a journey of success.
A random thought can be that beautiful spark of an idea, but as a spark, it becomes short-lived, if it is not shaped by creators of fire
