After the Freedom 251 stint, here is another company claiming to give you a phone for just Rs99. Bengaluru-based Namotel is launching Namotel Acche Din at an extremely low cost of Rs 99, calling it India's most affordable smartphone ever made.
Madhav Reddy the company’s promoter said that the smartphone is available for pre-booking from May 17 to May 25 on the company's website namotel.com. But there is a loop to this, everyone who wants to buy the phone has to register with bemybanker.com to get a user ID but the site seems to have a error. For the registration on this site the user needs to pay a Rs199 onetime cost.
As for the specifications, Namotel Acche Din sports a 4-inch display with 480x800 pixels WVGA resolution. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and packs 1GB RAM. There's 4GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. There's a 2MP camera at the back and a VGA selfie camera for those who plan on using this thing for taking photos. Connectivity options include 3G and dual-SIM.
Namotel.com, shows that the price has been slashed from Rs 2,999 to Rs 99 and is available on cash on delivery basis with nominal delivery charges. The website claims this as a Make In India initiative to bring joy & freedom to a billion faces in India.
