Location is everything!

It was the late Lord Harold Samuel, a real estate tycoon in Britain, who coined the expression: "There are three things that matter in property: location, location, location."

Truer words were never spoken. Where you live pretty much determines how you live.It has a direct impact on time spent commuting, access to facilities, time available for pursuing hobbies…….simply put location determines the quality of life !!

However, cosy the home one lives in maybe, if it is situated far away from the places you need to get to, life especially in a metropolis like Bangalore, can easily become a living hell.

Location also determines the safety aspects of your living space. For singles, typically living in PG accommodations in far flung places with poor last mile connectivity, the journey back home when returning late from work, is fraught with dangers. Muggings and menace of attacks from stray dogs is a common occurrence in many of the suburban locations.

Traffic being what it is in Bangalore, location makes a huge difference to the amount of commuting time saved in a day for the average young office goer. Horror stories of deaths due to rash driving by bikers just to save a couple of minutes in the traffic is all too familiar. The perpetual construction work that seems to happen on all the main arterial roads further adds to the woes of the much harassed commuter. Distances that ought to be covered in minutes take an hour or more during peak traffic hours!! So it is no wonder that some people feel like they spend half their lives stuck in traffic!!

For people who plan to pursue higher studies while working, shifting closer to their work place saves them enormous amounts of time to devote to their studies. For others it could mean time to pursue their hobbies and for yet others, it could simply mean more time to live their lives to the fullest!

Then there is the aspect of the neighbourhood. Gone are the days when singles working in the city would dread going back to their typically dingy PG accommodations in shabby neighbourhoods. Weekends meant leaving these depressing residences as early as possible and staying away till late in the day. Having friends over in these claustrophobic spaces with zero privacy was out of the question.

It was impossible to rent homes in decent neighbourhoods with amenities either because of prohibitive costs and binding leases or the reluctance displayed by home owners to let out homes to “bachelors”.

Now with options to live in single rooms in comfortable apartments in decent residential complexes, life is finally looking up for these hassled youngsters. Not only are these living spaces tastefully furnished, they are centrally located with close proximity to offices and other amenities like malls, theatres, eateries etc.

In cities the location of your living space often is the difference between a fulfilling life and a mundane rat race like existence.

Being in the right place at the right time makes all the difference to one’s life and so it is really not an exaggeration when it is said that "The two most important requirements for major success are: first, being in the right place at the right time, and second, doing something about it."-Ray Kroc
