Aligning personal and professional interest

How many of you have watched a movie 3 idiots? Well, if you did, then one thing you must have noted, choose a career what interests you rather than following a traditional way, where people run after money compromising their passion, their interest, which is the whole and soul of our life-long satisfaction.

I would love to share my story especially as I intend to help the young minds deal with prevailing confusion on career options. I have aligned my musical interest with a professional career in Digital Marketing. Born and brought up in Nagpur, Maharashtra, I am an engineering grad and an MBA from IIM Rohtak and also took training in Hindustani classical music from Mumbai. My creative mind takes deep interest in artistic activities like singing and song-writing, playing musical instruments and poetry writing. It gives me immense confidence when classical vocalists listen and suggests me a bright musical future with this God-gifted talent. I was always interested in making a career in creative field and thanks to digital marketing, it perfectly suits my dream career and goes parallel with my musical interest.

I currently work as a Digital Marketing Consultant for couple of start-ups and MNCs including IIDM, Nagpur and iVizion technology. Initially, I just thought about my career interest ignoring the big pay-packets, then as luck favored, digital marketing has opened me immense opportunities I never have imagined. I get several offers to work as a consultant, freelancer and even a guest faculty for an MBA college.

Speaking about my musical interest, I am associated with a musical group named Swarayan Pune, which is a community aiming to promote young and budding classical musicians. I have also performed several live shows and wish to continue this parallel journey ahead.

I would advice all the career aspirants to choose a career wisely capturing their dream, interest and a predictive success. It's not easy to do a fresh start in other field especially while you have already worked for several years in one field. You need to have a very disciplined approach for work-life balance and achieve your dreams in life. I wish all the aspirants a very successful career in the fields of interest they choose.
