How To Start

To get started with Instagram DM, create your audience persona — age, interests, place, etc. and know your audience.

A majority of people uses Instagram on daily basis. So there are a bunch of opportunities.

First of all, make sure your profile doesn’t suck and brings value to your audience.

Start with identifying your industry related hashtags, they can be 5, 10, 25 and even more also. Dig into them and find the most valuable ones by looking at top posts or audience in each hashtag.

When you search for a hashtag, Instagram shows top posts and new posts section. Head towards top posts and look into the user’s accounts — how they are engaging, what’s their interests and what type are they posting.

If the user’s posts are engaging and getting interactions, it’s perfect for you to reach out.

Now figure out how you can bring them value. Think.Think.Think.

Don’t be Selfish

Offer them your services in a way that they can’t resist or ignore. You can offer something for free or reward with big discount coupons.

Example: If you are running a restaurant you can search for people who are living nearby or posted a photo from nearby locations chances are they maybe interested. Go to their profile, message them saying “You are enjoying a lot. Would you like a 40% discount on your favorite food?”

Now tell me who don’t like great discounts. Everyone likes.

Another Example: If you are selling grooming products, offer them to try it for free or offer great discounts and additional services and in return, they may post a review, image or refer their audience to your products. But don’t expect too much.

Repeat the process and fall in love with it.

Do it more often and DM at least 50 people every day.

You will not lose anything but it will give your brand or business exposure in front of a thousand or even hundred thousand users. Start now.
