YOU MUST CLIMB A MOUNTAIN

YOU MUST CLIMB A MOUNTAIN

A recent trek to the Chandrashila peak, Uttarakhand made me aware of so much about myself that I did not know existed in me. Trekking and living on the mountains in bone chilling cold was a surreal experience. Surviving with bare necessities was a lesson in contentment and gratitude.

Sharing with you some learnings that I got back with me.

1) DON'T BELIEVE THEM WHEN THEY SAY ITS' TOUGH FOR YOU TO DO IT

Small people always make you feel small about yourself. Don't believe in them and don't get stuck in the doubts of others. If you have made up your mind then go for it. Even when they say its too high or too cold for you, go for it cause mountains are meant to be moved.

2) NOTHING WORTHY WILL COME EASY

For the best view from atop the mountain, you need to get there. Walk slow, walk steady but keep walking. When your body is exhausted focus on getting the smaller steps right.

3) AS LONG AS YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE WORST; DON'T TRY TO LIVE IT YET

There will be moments when you will be gasping for air. The altitude will make your head spin. The cold will seep your bones. But you will conquer that. Don't try to expect the unexpected but beat the moment. It is now that you are here and it is now that you will live and do what are you are doing. Tomorrow will be different; don't live it in your mind as yet.

4) STAY POSITIVE. STAY GROUNDED. INSPIRE OTHERS.

Like they say everyone is fighting their own battles, so be human. Being positive in your journey makes you appreciative of your surroundings. There is no way other than marching ahead and do that with gusto taking along people you meet on the way.

5) GRATITUDE

Being appreciative of what you have comes when you realize how important is what you have and to live like you do not have it. When you are appreciative of that sip of water up the climb or the warm food to beat the cold, you learn the things that are really valuable in this world.

Keep going at it. Your life is an addition of your choices. Good, bad, ugly. Its yours to make it large and live it large.
