In this article I wish to throw some light on skill development courses offered by The National Skill Development Corporation India (NSDC) in conjunction with its training partners across India.

Do you know that Government of India spends crores of rupees on Skill Development Programs for Indian Youth like you?

NSDC was setup as Public Private Partnership Company with the primary objective of catalyzing the skill landscape in India.

There are many schemes like PMKVY, ESDM, RSLDC, DDUGKY to name a few, all these programs on successful completion helps you with Government Certification which certainly enhances and boosts your employability.

NSDC conducts various vocational training programs through a network of training hubs across India. The training partners shall enter into an agreement with institutes. The role of the training partner would be –.

 Schedule a course depending on local industry needs.

 Mobilize students for the course

 Provide and facilitate the infrastructure for conducting training.

 Identify Skill Knowledge Providers (Industry partners) to provide internship opportunity to students, and this is mandatory for Diploma & degree courses.

 Conduct final Certification exam on completion of training

 Provide placement assistance to students

It is well known fact AP and Telangana both the Telugu states produces more than 1, 50,000 of Engineers a year. As per the statistical studies only 10-20% of the students are employable and most of these creamy students get placed in MNCs across the Industries. Balance 80 – 90% Engineers are not Employable as they lack needed skills required for employment, we see this lack of adequate skills more in Mechanical, Civil and Electrical streams.

Skill development training courses from NSDC will certainly help students who lack skills, these courses are something like Job guarantee programs as they are designed as per the Industry demands, and moreover government certification for these courses is a clear propeller towards the employment. Students with valid Government Certifications in Mechanical, Civil and Electrical are certainly going to have advantage as some MNC’s demand such certified students. In these certifications are mandatory in developed countries like US.

Given the above background, there are plethora of training institutes offering MEP trainings for the students, these institutes operates Pan India. One need to ask for these certifications while joining course in any of the MEP Training centers. There are few good training institutes offering MEP trainings but don’t provide valid NSDC Government certification, so one need to very cautious and careful before picking up your training institute.

Apart from Technical skill development soft skill development is also important particularly if you wish you take your career through software industry. Software as a career is obviously rewarding, but now the industry is losing its shine as industry itself has come to a consolidation phase. Moreover one needs to keep on updating latest software platforms to be in the race and this is very challenging task. Most of the software aspirants are not able to sustain in the Industry as employment in the industry is coming down due to both external and internal factors, as a consequence of this one end up in under payment.

Engineering Students from Mechanical, Civil and Electrical can look at alternatives instead of going for software, as all the governments across the globe is giving importance to Infrastructure development, this will open up bright opportunities for MEP students, only thing is you need to develop your skills and make ready yourself for the job market.

Some of the career paths you can look could be HVAC (Mechanical), Electrical and Plumbing Design, Drafting and Execution. Only thing you need to do after Engineering Graduation is to shone your skills in the said field through MEP training centers, get certification and make ready yourself for the job market.
