There are millions of children in our country, who do not have enough money to buy books even today. My name is Shankar Yadav, a resident of Raopura village in Rajasthan's Rajasthan district, one of the children who had no money to buy books other than his syllabus. I was continuing my studies with limited resources. My dream was to do something so that children like me would not have to buy books. I entered into the digital app market to solve this problem, without any engineering degree. I have so far made more than 40 education apps.
All these apps are available for free on the Google Play Store, which anyone can download from there. These apps, work offline, I also make time-to-time automatic updates.
In the initiative of digitizing my village, I started my company in the name of SR Developers. Nearly eight months ago these apps were put on Google Play Store. It is a special thing that so far more than 20 lakh people have downloaded this app. All these apps are available for download when searching on Shankarraopura.com at Google Play Store.
How I get an idea of creating an app:
When I was a Class VIII student in the year 2009, then Shiv Charan Meena, a teacher of the village government school, advised me to find answers to questions online for preparing for the competitive exam. Then I realized that even online can be studied. According to me, this was the first time when I thought books could be accessed in digital format. After this, my interest started growing in the computer. Looking at his son’s growing interest in computer, My father Kalluram Yadav bought the computer despite difficult economic conditions. After this, I started studying as well as spending time on the computer. During this time I used to search the method of making apps on Google.
Lee's training of Android development:
I passed the 10th Board examination in 2011 from Government School situated at Ravpura. Then did my 11th and 12th with a mathamatics major in a school in my Village. My interest in Apps grew in such a way that I started searching for online classes about programming languages. In this sequence, I started online development training in Bangalore.
Power of Digital India:
After doing a course in Android development, the Digital India campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi motivated me to take further steps in this direction. I did not look back and went after making one educational app after another. In addition to Educational Apps, I also created apps related to religion, health, sports etc. Many of my teachers and friends helped in the content generation of the app. We are a team of 4 people, who work with keeping them updated. In view of the unavailability of Internet and network in the village, I have also prepared the app for offline use.
My village made Digital:
I am the first app developer in my village. I have prepared an app called Digital Ravpura, equipped with every little information of my village. For this initiative of mine, Mr. Rajkumar Yadav (IAS) District collector South Sikkim and Mr. Rajkumar Devyush Singh (Rajasthan BJP Co-ordinator Sports Cell) have also honored me. My father Kalluram Yadav is a farmer and my mother Jena is a homemaker. Although these apps have started earning a little, but my parents are more happy with the compliment they get.
Keeping competitive exams in mind:
I have created all the educational applications by keeping in mind the 10th and 12th syllabus and competitive exams. In addition to science, mathematics, geography and social sciences, besides the Indian constitution, culture of Rajasthan, general knowledge related applications are also made. More than 50 thousand people have installed dozens of apps. Everyday these app receives about 15 million views. The normal income is earned from Ads, which eliminates the cost of updating. We believe that such apps are a way that the low income children of the country can easily be educated.
