It is fun to do guest appearances; you never know when you might get LUCKY

What do most new bloggers want?

1. Becoming an authority in their niche

2. Tons of site traffic through organic search

3. Some quality authoritative backlinks to their site

If you are one of those bloggers then you should consider adding guest blogging to your itinerary. If you are yet to start a blog and want to know more about blogging then you can visit my blog for more.

When you are new, you may as well be writing damn bloody good content, but may be finding it difficult to reach out to as many people as you like. In such as scenario you should consider Guest Blogging as an effective tool to get what you want, without having to wait too long.

Google loves you if everybody else loves you

Guest blogging is method used by bloggers to increase traffic on their site by posting content on other sites that have a larger user base that may be interested in the content shared and eventually become subscribers

Here is a list of 9 reasons why you should do guest blogging

#1 Not All Traffic Is Same

I see many newbie bloggers using social media for promotion these days. They join some groups that have threads for generating traffic like visit page, comment on post etc. While this may look optically great, it is neither sustainable nor scalable. Often this kind of traffic leads to high bounce rate, low conversion rate (important if you are in the affiliate sales niche).

Now consider traffic coming from guest blogging. This traffic comes to your site because it wants to and not because it is told to. This means traffic that will stay longer on your site, has a greater potential of generating a sale.

#2. Increase Domain and Search Authority

Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs). Open Site Explorer is a great resource to check the DA of your site.

When you guest post on a site that has a higher DA than yours, you get some juice when you get that backlink from the site. This results in your DA getting bumped up a few points. The #1 benefit of a higher DA is greater visibility in search engines for the keywords that you want to rank for, which in turn means greater traffic for you.

#3. Get More People to Know You

When you guest post on a site that has thousands of readers, you are exposed that many people. As you start interacting with them through comments, these people get to know you and vice versa.

Familiarity is a great asset in the blogging arena. More the people you know, more the people can you impact. You can influence people through your own blog but guest posting will increase your reach exponentially and give you more bang for your buck.

#4. Establish Personal Reputation

When you are blogging solely through your personal blog, it may take a while before people notice you and respect your opinions. It may take months or even years for you to become an authority on the subject you write about.

Guest blogging will enable you to rub shoulders with some of the most respected bloggers in your niche. When you start becoming frequently associated with such authority figures, people will start giving you the same respect as they give them.

#5. Enhance Writing Skills

It is difficult for people to be critical of their work. This reduces room for improvement. When you post on your own blog, you are not going to criticise yourself, even your readers might spare you because they know you.

When you guest post, you are expected to meet the stringent standards set by the author of that blog. Your content may be critiqued and that will help you become a better writer. Also you are likely to get more honest opinions from your guest posts as it will be evaluated on a standard that you may not be accustomed to.

The more frequently you guest post, the better your writing will get.

#6. Market your Brand

Brand building and marketing is another advantage of guest posting. When you guest post on blogs with high readership, your brand is exposed to all those people. Even if the article does not translate to 100% visit ratio, you still win because people now know your brand and can recall it.

Brand recall is vital as people like to go to things that they are familiar with, things they have seen and things that they think can be trusted to deliver value.

#7. Enhance Subscriber Base

The traffic that you can generate from guest posts is great but what is even more great is that you can get a lot of email subscribers through guest posting.

Email subscribers are gold in the blogging arena. They are traffic that is always available. People may not visit your site every day, but they will check their e-mails every day.

#8. Receive Genuine Feedback

You will receive a diverse range of opinions, when you guest post. This is because the audience is different and has a different perspective than the one on your personal blog. This will help you improve your work as you now have a better perspective of things.

#9. Build Your Social Profile

Sometimes your article can easily get you a couple of 100 followers a day. These social followers will help increase your social media presence which means more shares, retweets, likes etc.

Summary

I personally think guest blogging is great opportunity for new bloggers to explore. Don’t stress much on what Matt Cutts has to say about guest blogging.
