LONDON – A magical city which weaves its colourful strings around you seamlessly and has you embedded in its soul in no time. This is a city bubbling with euphoria and enthusiasm. It is a city of lights and music.

This enthralling capital city of England was my home for 8 memorable years. It was the first time I had travelled to a country so distant away from my nation – India. My rendezvous with London was by virtue of marriage. Post my marriage, my husband and I moved to London.

London shall always hold a special place in my heart as it was a part of my journey of dual discovery. I was exploring this beautiful city and my marital life at the same time. It was an adventurous ride as everything was new to me – my home, people, surroundings, mode of transport (the public transport in London is really good and convenient to the commuters), the weather, etc.

London is cold yet very warm!

London is shrouded in a cold blanket of weather for three-fourth of the year. Though London looks magical when it snows here.

The people of this beautiful city balance the cold weather with their warmth. People here are warm, helpful and polite.

London oozes history

The monarchy holds a pivotal place among its citizens and it is amazing to see the love the citizens have for their Queen. The mesmerising palaces and historical museums are bound to leave you in awe. The Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, British Museum, National Art Gallery are exemplary examples of London Art and history.

London is synonymous with Vacation

This city has no dearth of places to visit for all age groups. From toddler activity centres, safari parks, beautiful parks, pubs, beaches to magnificent temples and palaces, it has loads to offer to the wanderlust soul. One never gets tired of exploring this city of the Queen.

Hub of World Food

The farmer’s market sells a variety of freshly grown local produce. The food festivals and carnivals showcase a feast of world food. Restaurants offering a variety of cuisines span the entire city. You can buy any food that the world has to offer.

Excellent Public Transport

London has an excellently managed public transport system which is quick, convenient and cheaper for the commuters. The transport for London website is very useful and has all the tube lines, bus and train services linked to it for the user to map his/her journey.

Ethnic Diversity

London is the most ethnically diverse city in the world. It is the best cosmopolitan city that the world has to offer. It is home to expats of many countries. Festivals like the Chinese New Year, Diwali, Holi, Durga puja, etc are celebrated here with great pomp and show. If you are not British, you still feel at home away from Home.

Pet Friendly

London is extremely pet-friendly. They are allowed on public transport too. There are umpteen number of well managed pet goods stores here.

London – my home for many years shall always remain etched in my mind and heart. I can go on with an endless list charting the numerous characteristics and things that this beautiful city has to offer but the pen needs to stop for the reader’s interest.

Now I am back in my home country India; ready to bag the opportunities here.
