India will host the first assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) along with two other key events from October 2-5, an official release said.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy will organise the ISA Assembly, the second Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) Renewable Energy Ministerial Meeting and the second Global Renewable Energy Investment Meeting and Expo, (REINVEST- 2018) in New Delhi.
The three events will be inaugurated in a common function by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Antonio Guterres, Secretary General, the United Nations on October 2, 2018.
The founding conference of the ISA, jointly hosted by Prime Minister Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron in new Delhi on March 11, 2018 represents a high water mark in the journey that aims to bring all countries together for cooperation on solar energy.
The ISA was launched jointly by Prime Minister Modi and the then French President Francois Hollande on November 30, 2015 in Paris. It is expected to aggregate demand, improve quality and reduce cost of solar energy in developing countries.
