Charanjit Singh Channi, the Minister of Technical Education and Industrial Training of Punjab, and Igor Karpenko, Minister of Education, Republic of Belarus, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of skill development and vocational education.
The MoU was signed during a visit by a high-level delegation led by the Punjab minister to Belarus. The event was also attended by Sangeeta Bahadur, the Indian Ambassador in the Republic of Belarus.
Charanjit Singh Channi said, “This would open new prospects for both the countries in the field of technical education and become a specific road map for mutual cooperation in the field of education between Belarus and India.”
Channi said that as per the deal, both sides have agreed to work together in the field of vocational and higher education, which includes conducting joint research, training of staff for establishing Skill University in Punjab, short-term VET programmes in Belarus for the youth of Punjab, skill upgradation and internships in Belarus.
It also includes the setting up of Centre for excellence in Punjab along with dual certification and joint staff training at higher education level and also providing consultancy and advisory services to the vocational educational institutes of Punjab.
The minister believes this is also a step towards strengthening of relations between both the countries and their citizens.
