After a successful first event, the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018 will see its second edition take place in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, from November 11 to 15, 2018. The flagship biennial business event of the state government will showcase the state’s policy and regulatory environment, investment opportunities across focus sectors and manufacturing prowess.
The event will see conclave sessions on tourism, textiles and apparels, aerospace and defence manufacturing, chemicals and petrochemicals, electronics manufacturing and more. Among these, aerospace and defence manufacturing and chemicals and petrochemicals are identified as the emerging sectors for investments in the state.
The session on chemicals seeks to discuss opportunities for fostering an ecosystem conducive of creating a downstream value chain in the sector. According to a statement, the domestic chemical industry accounts for below four percent of the global chemical market, which means there is huge potential for the sector to grow. The chemicals industry, which includes petrochemicals, agro-chemicals, specialty chemicals and fertilisers, is critical for the economic development of the country, the statement added.
The aerospace and defence manufacturing session will focus on policy initiatives and business frameworks for the sector. It will take into account plans for modernisation by armed forces, growth plans for small businesses, and the overall development plan for Odisha.
Previous editions of the conclave have seen investment commitments of over Rs 2 lakh crore, 18,000 footfalls and 270 exhibitors.
