Infibeam launches logistics aggregation platform Shipdroid to 20K pincodes, to launch hyperlocal delivery soon

Before going IPO, Ahmedabad-based e-cCommerce platform Infibeam has launched Shipdroid for solving the logistics needs of millions of online merchants. It’s a logistics SaaS platform that enables e-commerce merchants to seamlessly integrate with a wide range of courier service providers in India on the single platform while maintaining uniformity of entire logistics and fulfilment process across all courier partners.

The platform claims to have a reach of 20,000 pincodes within India across 600 cities, which is one of the largest reach provided by any single logistics partner.

Infibeam has been testing Shipdroid since the past three-four months and thousands of merchants all across India have already signed-up to use Shipdroid logistics services. Merchants can choose from a variety of cost-based service-plans depending on their needs, budget and products being sold. They can also choose from a variety of delivery commitment SLAs and mode of delivery.

Speaking about the thesis behind launching Shipdroid, Sachin Dalal, Co-founder and Head of Logistics Platform, Infibeam, said, “As part of our e-commerce solutions offering, we at Infibeam are proud to extend our vast expertise in logistics as a technology platform for all e-commerce merchants. This is a big step forward in streamlining e-commerce experience for all marketplace sellers for whom logistics is the most challenging and costly part of selling online.”

Shipdroid will allow merchants to opt for surface, rail or air mode and alternatively they can opt for express delivery time or regular delivery time. The platform offers innovative one-stop shop of all logistics services right from automatic allocation of courier to dispatch to last mile delivery of packages.

“Going forward, we plan to extend this platform to local sellers as well as those who wish to do three hour delivery,” added Sachin. The company is planning to hit the stock market with an initial public offering of up to Rs 1,000 crore by the end of February this year.

In November last year, Infibeam launched its .ooo domain business after winning required clearances and license from The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

This is an interesting play from Infibeam which is leveraging technology, experience of running e-commerce at business and consumer fronts. At present, besides Shipdroid no other player is evangelizing logistics aggregation space on a bigger scale.

For small merchants who’re selling on e-commerce marketplaces, Shipdroid makes a good sense as they will get access to lower pricing for shipping products. If a merchant directly communicate with logistics players, he/she is bound to get inflated pricing as compared to Shipdroid which offers massive scale to logistics players.

Shipdroid will be quickly scaled given the might of Buildabazaar, an e-ommerce enabler run by Infibeam. At present, Buildabazaar has over 30,000 sellers who can easily be integrated to Shipdroid.
