Skidos is the first Indian startup to be part of Startupbootcamp Mobile in Copenhagen

For the first time, a startup company from India, Skidos, has been accepted into Startupbootcamp Mobile in Copenhagen, Denmark. For five years now, Startupbootcamp has been running industry-focused programmes globally. Their key aim is to connect startups with industry mentors, partners and investors across the world. This is done through an intense three-month programme with the selected startups.

Startupbootcamp Mobile accelerator helps scale mobile technologies and solution-based startups. With four already-executed programmes in Copenhagen, Startupbootcamp Mobile has a portfolio of 35 alumni companies.

An edutech startup, Skidos was founded in 2013 by Aditya Prakash and Rajdeep Sethi. Aditya had started Skidos with the aim of making learning fun. Unlike other players in the field, the duo decided to analyse different learning patterns children have to build games around them. Their very first product was an endless runner game engine known as Milk Hunt, which, in turn, taught mathematics through the ‘Skill and Drill’ approach. The game was designed to help children between six and 11 years practice mental math in a fun environment.

After the successful launch of their first product, and seeing the traction it received, Aditya thought it was time to look at schools and children globally. Earlier this year, the Skidos team informed YourStory of their intent to make Skidos the best digital brand that combines learning and entertainment for children. “Startupbootcamp will provide us the right connections and opportunities to help us become a truly global company.”

Aditya says the selection process has been a gruelling experience for them. Only if the startup passes Startupbootcamp’s rigorous vetting process, it is selected, after which they get to meet a hundred different entrepreneurs.

Over a period of two days, over 20 different startups meet over 50 different industry experts, partners and investors. “We pitch our startup, and what we do during different stages. If you’re selected, then you are a part of the 10 startups that are shortlisted to join the three months acceleration programme,” says Aditya.

The Managing Director of the Startupbootcamp Mobile Lars Buch said: "The educational system stands in front of a major overhaul to fit to today's youth and we feel confident that gaming has an important place in that transformation. Skidos has an extremely strong team already with traction on actual solutions which makes us confident that we can disrupt this interesting market together."

The accelerator programme will start on June 8, 2015. During the three months, Skidos will receive a mentorship package of €15,000 in exchange of eight per cent equity, an office space, corporate partner deals and a highly visible ‘Demo Day,’ which will give them access to nearly 300 investors in attendance.

“We are really excited to be a part of the Startupbootcamp. Not only is it the first time an Indian startup will be a part of this organisation, the mobile accelerator will put us on the global map. Apart from this, Copenhagen is amongst the best places in the world for mobile technologies. Great universities like Technical University of Denmark, Lund University and University of Copenhagen have, for generations, trained some of the best engineers and developers in the world. We hope to gain the best of this bootcamp,” concludes Aditya.
