The millennials who made it to the Forbes list of billionaires in 2016

Friday September 23, 2016 , 4 min Read

Millennials with mega-bucks? How can we not honour their hard work, diligence and vision! After all, getting to the one billion mark isn’t a race but a destination, and some have gotten there faster than most.

In 2016, there has been an estimate of 1,810 young billionaires, according to Forbes’ new billionaires list, with estimates using stock prices and exchanges rates of February 12, 2016

Many great people have believed that money can’t buy happiness, which, let’s admit, sounds good in theory. However, when we take off our dreamy glasses and step into the real world, the straightforward answer to this adage is simple. Just give someone a hundred bucks and watch them smile.

Today we look at some of the youngest billionaires in the world who have joined the billionaire club at an incredibly young age. Read on to know how these millennials created their own fortunes through innovation and imagination with, of course, a dose of good fortune by their side:

Lukas Walton, Age 29, Estimated Worth – $ 11.2 billion

Lukas Walton, the son of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton, benefitted immensely from an empire built by his dad. While it’s true that there was some confusion between him and Christy, his mother, as to who was the beneficiary of his dad’s wealth initially, it did not let Lukas down. He used his great entrepreneurial instincts, took over the company and expanded his empire. Clearly, even Christy is happy.

Evan Spiegel, Age 26, Estimated Worth – Over $ 2 Billion

After co-founding Snapchat in 2011 with Bobby Murphy, Spiegel has hardly ever looked back. A former product design student at Stanford, Spiegel is the CEO of a company that was recently valued over $15 billion. A man of immense steel, he is said to have rejected a buyout worth $3 billion by Facebook in the year 2013. Talk about good business judgement!

Bobby Murphy, Age 27, Estimated Worth – $1.5-2 Billion

Co-founder of Snapchat along with Spiegel, Bobby met Spiegel at the Kappa Sigma Fraternity house in Stanford back in 2010, and the rest is history. After failing with an initial project named Picaboo, the two reworked it together and re-branded it into Snapchat. Bobby Murphy’s background in mathematics and computational ability was vital in materialising Snapchat.

Alexandra Andresen, Age 20, Estimated Worth – $ 1.2 Billion

Norwegian Alexandra Andresen is currently the world’s youngest billionaire, a feat she achieved when she was just 19. Her journey started with the inheritance of a family business, an investment company named Ferd, with her sister Katherina. Alexandra is now a world renowned investor overtaking multiple portfolios.

Ludwig Theodor Braun, Age 26, Estimated Worth - $ 1.2 billion

Owing almost a 10 percent stake in B. Braun Melsungen AG, a family business which specialises in medical products, Ludwig Theodor Braun is one of the youngest billionaires of his generation. The company, which employees 54,000 people globally, reported a revenue of around $5.4 billion in 2014.

Gustav Magnar Witzoe, Age 23, Estimated Worth – $ 1.1 Billion

Another family business beneficiary, Gustav, Magnar Witzoe inherited close to 47 percent of the equity in SalMar, one of the largest producers of farm-raised Salmon in Norway.

Daniel Fine, Age 22, Estimated Worth – $ 1.04 Billion

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Glass-U, a company founded in 2014, is already a billionaire. Daniel used his good judgement and managerial skills to run his company with a mere 10 employees who specialise in making fully foldable sunglasses and are experts in what they do.

Clearly, most of them are the one who were given the silver spoon at a very young age, but their determination and passion to keep innovating made them the talk of the town. Here are some inspiring career tips from others who have had realised their billionaire dreams.
