IBM unveils set of new AI platform - Watsonx

Global technology company IBM has introduced Watsonx, a new AI and data platform that is expected to provide enterprises with all the capabilities of generative AI for their businesses.

According to IBM, under Watsonx, it will be offering an AI development studio with access to IBM-curated and trained foundation models and open-source models, access to a data store to enable the gathering and cleansing of training and tuning data, and a toolkit for the governance of AI. All this is expected to make AI easier to adapt and scale.

IBM also announced further planned advancements including a GPU-as-a-service infrastructure offering designed to support AI-intensive workloads, an AI-powered dashboard to measure, track, manage, and help report on cloud carbon emissions, and a new practice for Watsonx and generative AI from IBM Consulting that will support client deployment of AI.

“Foundation models make deploying AI significantly more scalable, affordable, and efficient. We built IBM Watsonx for the needs of enterprises, so that clients can be more than just users, they can become AI advantaged," said IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna. "With IBM Watsonx, clients can quickly train and deploy custom AI capabilities across their entire business, all while retaining full control of their data.”

TeamViewer opens new office in Mumbai

TeamViewer, a remote access software company, has expanded its operations in India with a new Mumbai office. The move marks TeamViewer’s five-year anniversary in the Indian market.

According to the company, with the APAC market experiencing exponential growth in the demand for remote connectivity and workplace digitalisation solutions, The new office in Mumbai will not only serve as a hub for TeamViewer’s operations in India, but also as its APAC engineering talent centre for solution delivery.

This team will focus on developing solutions tailored to the specific needs of APAC enterprise customers. The Mumbai office will also house a team of sales, marketing, and customer support departments, enabling better service delivery.

Rupesh Lunkad, Managing Director–India and South Asia at TeamViewer, said, “We plan to expand the talent base in India from Mumbai by 30% in 2023 to cater for the growing needs of customers and partners in the region with a heavy focus on roles in engineering, sales and customer service.”

Infosys gets new recognition from Forrester

Infosys has announced that it has been positioned as a leader in both The Forrester Wave: Multi Cloud-Managed Services Providers, Q1 2023 and The Forrester Wave: Cloud Migration And Managed Service Partners In Asia Pacific, Q4 2022.

In these two assessments, Forrester evaluated 19 different providers across 25+ criteria in each. These evaluations were under three high-level categories: current offering, strategy, and market presence. The report ‘Cloud Migration and Managed Service Partners in Asia Pacific’ recognised Infosys for its cloud services offering, which is heavily focused on applications with strong functional and vertical industry solutions.

The assessment has been backed by solid customer references, as per the report. The report also stated Infosys is a good fit for most modernisation and migration opportunities, especially application re-implementation in the banking sector and asset-intensive industries such as logistics.
