Price comparison startup ShoppingWish raises angel funding from SV based investor Sandeep Johri and others
The eCommerce saga started with selling books online. This was followed by a sudden surge when the sellers assumed that the people were ready to buy even washing machines online! And that is how today, almost anything that you can buy is available for sale online. Buying offline one had to check out a couple of stores before settling on a product. This inherent need of buying the cheapest option took the form of price comparison websites. And how!
Midst the earliest were Accel & Helion-backed MySmartPrice, PriceDekho.com, and Amazon's Junglee. Others include PricePaaji, ThisYaThat, KBookSearch etc. A new entrant that we have here is ShoppingWish.
ShoppingWish recently got funded via angel investors that include Silicon Valley based Sandeep Johri.
Founded in June last year, ShoppingWish - co-founded by Madhur Khandelwal & Sushil Choudhari, caters to categories such as mobile phones, books, cameras, and electronics. It is managed by Pune based Wishpoint Tech Pvt Ltd. Choudhari has earlier worked at Dhingana and Madhur has had stint as a software design engineer at Microsoft, and was also a part of the founding team at TheFind.com, a US-based shopping search engine. Sandeep (Johri), one of the angel investors, is also a founding board member of Dhingana and a former founding member of Shopzilla, a US-based price comparison site. Johri is also a serial entrepreneur and venture advisor at Mayfield Fund.
The new features on the site include reviews on the products, price analysis, an integrated coupon experience, and more.
With 1.5 Million+ products and 25+ stores in its database since last year, ShoppingWish does seem to be at a good place!
