Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell of IIM Bangalore proudly presents

On

August 15th& 16th, 2009

After a grand inaugural edition in 2008, Eximius has got bigger. With business plan contests, Venture Capital workshops,

speaker series and engaging panel discussions, Eximius’09 is all set to reach the next level. This year, Eximius is hosting Dr. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw (CMD, Biocon) and Mr. Sudhir Sethi (Founder and CMD, IDG Ventures India) as keynote speakers.

The flagship events are:

GENESIS – The VC Speed Date: Genesis provides a platform for all budding entrepreneurs and enthusiasts to pitch their business ideas to venture capitalists, in a one-on-one session. It’s an excellent opportunity to get real time feedback from multiple VCs. In these sessions, participants simulate real-life situations, test their ability to think on their feet, convince the panel and make their business a true success.

INGEN – The Business Plan contest: In today's recessionary scenario, capital efficient "small" businesses are being touted as the next "big" thing, and hence, the theme for this year’s Ingen is “Small is Big”. INGEN is the ideal platform to showcase the idea which you believe in. The selected finalists will be allotted mentors to fine tune the B-Plans, which will be presented to an elite panel of judges &a discerning audience.

While Genesis is an event targeted towards start ups, INGEN is geared to bring out the entrepreneurial abilities of students. The winners of both the events get to take away cash prizes and invaluable feedback from venture capitalists & academicians.

In addition to the above two flagship events, Eximius ’09 is introducing Start-up Fair where the selected start ups are given a chance to show case their venture to a discerning audience. This fair gives an exposure to the students about the start up culture & also gives start ups an access to the managerial talent, and hence bridging the gap between B schools & Start ups. Along the same lines, Panel discussion on “Decoding the MBA Entrepreneur” is organized with Panelists coming from various IIMs. This panel is being moderated by Rashmi Bansal, the author of best seller - Stay Hungry Stay Foolish. The other panelists include Satya Narayanan, the founder & chairman of Career Launcher, Sanjay Anandaram Partner at JumpStartUp Venture Fund, Saumil Mazumdar, Founder & CEO at SportzVillage and Krishnan Ganesh, Founder, Chairman and CEO at TutorVista.com. As a part of Speaker Series, Prof. Narayandas from Harvard Business School will give a special talk on “Search Funds” – which are vehicles for entrepreneurs to raise funds from investors interested in making private equity investments.
