Finding the right professional college now made easy by IndiaCollegeSearch.com

Wednesday January 25, 2012 , 3 min Read

IndiaCollegeSearch.com now eases the pain of admission seekers by letting them find the most suitable professional college, be it engineering (B.Tech), management (MBA), medical (MBBS) or any other course across India.

IndiaCollegeSearch offers regularly updated and detailed information about over 3000 professional colleges in India. A proprietary web based toolset helps locate a set of programs with a stream in a chosen state or even a city out of a long list, to match a student’s needs. Additionally, IndiaCollegeSearch’s tools help customize the list even further based on the fee band chosen by the student.

A student can access detailed information about a college on IndiaCollegeSearch.com, which includes info about infrastructure, faculty, placement track record as well as starting salaries and names of hiring companies. Students can also create a shortlist of colleges by their scores in entrance exams - a neat way to narrow down data to a short list that meets their needs.

Indian Angel Network (IAN), India’s oldest and largest group of angel investors, will be incubating IndiaCollegeSearch. The incubation is being led by IAN’s Department of Science and Technology.

The second half of 2011 IndiaCollegeSearch team concentrated on creating and launching a prototype with a new and more powerful search engine that scores high on user interface and lets visitors post reviews, shortlist colleges and interact better. Information about cut-offs of earlier years as well as placement records and infrastructure of more than 500 professional colleges is available on the platform.

IndiaCollegeSearch founders Anirudh Motwani and Parul Bansal believe in providing all the information for free and not crowd the information with ads. Before starting IndiaCollegeSearch both the founders worked in leading MNC’s and Indian companies. Anirudh is a Computer Science major from BITS (Dubai) and Parul is a Mathematics major from University of Delhi as well as a MBA (Finance) from IBS. The core team of the company consists of seven full-time members and they concentrate on product development.

Vikram Kant Upadhyaya, who is a member of IAN and an angel investor, is on IndiaCollegeSearch’s board and is also the Chief Mentor and Observer. Prominent educationists from AICTE and IIT are part of the advisory board.

Positive word mouth promotion has worked wonders for the site, which has seen a steady increase in the number of students, since its December 2010 launch, visiting IndiaCollegeSearch.com. The team believes that the site is addressing an unmet need and attributes the growth in visitors to this. The professional colleges which have registered on the platform are also extremely happy with IndiaCollegeSearch.

Currently IndiaCollegeSearch is working towards getting ready for the 2012 admission season. This year they are planning to increase the number of engineering colleges on board as well as cater towards students seeking admission to MBA, MBBS or any other professional course. The objective is to increase the number students utilizing the site by providing them a wider bouquet of courses to choose from.

“We plan to grow our user base from engineering students to those seeking admission to professional programs such as BBA, MBA, MCA, M. Tech, Law and Medical. We want to better our product and content to encourage repeat visitors,” adds Anirudh.

In India cost-effective and time-effective services work best. IndiaCollegeSearch scores big on these parameters. It is easier to use than a phone helpline or visiting an education fair.
