“People dont have to Purchase Our Products to be Eco-Friendly” - WorkshopQ
“People dont have to purchase our products to be eco-friendly. They just need to minimize the waste around them.”Who thought that eco-friendly products could beyond jute, earthy colours and a lot of clay? Breaking the sterotyped notion eco-friendly products, WorkshopQ adds its quirky touch to make eco-friendly living a lot more fun. “It is a movement where we look at things from a different perspective and give new meaning to ‘green design’. WorkshopQ is where we mix style and sustainability to create something new, to create something inspiring whilst keeping in mind the growing dangers our planet faces,” explains Madhvi Khaitan, Co-Founder, WorkshopQ.
Starting WorkshopQ in 2010 after completing Visual Communications from LA, USA, Madhvi Khaitan and Radhika Mittal, intend to spread awareness about the importance of upcycling keeping the focus on showing people that going green can also be a lot of fun. With a team of 11 people, Madhvi and Radhika focus on designing and sales while two other girls handle the logistics and the rest, design and manufacturing.
WorkshopQ places strong emphasis on every person’s involvement in their environment and how they live. In a way to encourage this, they design products fusing sustainability with style to produce products that make a difference. “People dont have to parchase our products to be eco-friendly. They just need to minimize the waste around them. Thats all it takes,” says Madhvi.
What sets them apart from the other eco-friendly companies? Their products cannot be recognized as made from ‘scrap’ until someone reads the story of the product that comes with the product. They are unique, quirky and fun and are designed to fit into any kind of an environment. Imagine this! People ask them why should they pay for something that has been made out of crap yet these guys manage to convince them otherwise. Apart from such intelligent sales tactics, they also circulate periodic e-newsletters and constantly use the social and online media to market their products. Currently supplying to about 15 cities across India, they also market their products with the help of the retail stores and e-commerce stores.
“We see ourselves opening our own chain of stores across the country and being a movement over being just another retail store!” shares Madhvi who also on behalf of WorkshopQ requests entrepreneurs to be aware of their contributions to the environment in all business processes including things as simple as bubble wraps for their products. She says, “It is all about minimizing and reusing!”
