It's been just over two weeks since Times Internet announced the launch of the gaana.com app and according to a new release, the Gaana app has crossed 200,000 users. The app was launched on iOS, Android, Blackberry, and Nokia/Samsung phones and their review can be read here. Gaana basically allows the user to listen to songs online and competes directly with players like Saavn and Dhingana.

Here is the distribution of the downloads across various platforms:

iPhone: 58,153

Android: 69,456

Nokia/Samsung: 69,674

Blackberry: 5,115

This announcement comes along with tie ups with Yash Raj Films, Magnasound, and Unisys Infosolutions. "These tie ups will help us bring even more music to users across devices. With these partnerships, we’ve added over 50,000 songs, and one’ll notice more music across categories, from major blockbuster movies," mentioned the release.

Gaana hasn't spent any money on marketing but promotion via media outlets has ensured the searing growth which obviously speaks volumes about the TI clout. The latest version on the iPhone which is awaiting approval will have AirPlay enabled which allows a user to stream music from the phone to home devices. many such updates are expected from Gaana in the future.
