Freekall launches its next version - Make free calls from your mobile and landlines without internet connectivity

Thursday June 05, 2014 , 3 min Read

In India, though we have one of the cheapest call rates, would anyone refuse a free call?

One thing which is sure to get everybody’s attention is the word ‘free’. Be it a free gift or a free beer or even some free advice, it is lapped up very fast.

Bangalore-based cloud telephony startup, FreeKall which launched its private beta in March this year has more to offer than just free calls. With FreeKall, you can call anyone (on both mobile and landline) for free without losing your money on data charges for Internet. The impressive feature for this product is that they don’t have an app to be installed which means all mobile phone users, right from feature phones to smart phones, can leverage this service for free. The team has been working on this concept from the last eight months.

The startup had an astonishing beta launch with over 600k calls in a span of 5 days. The team wasn’t ready for this scale of launch and had to take down the service to rework on their infrastructure. For consumers, it was a bit of a shock when they found the service to be down in just 5 days.

With the advent of smart phones, the era of telecommunication has changed horizons and communication has become almost free in developed countries with a number of service providers. But the problem in developing countries is that 95% of the population does not have access to either 3G or 4G which is almost mandatory to make internet calls using Skype, Viber and other such applications. This market needs such free or cheap solutions to combat the high call rates, says Yashas, Founder & CEO - Freekall

The team is back and has launched their next version. In this new version, all the registered users can now make free calls for 3 minutes every day, eventually the number of minutes every day will be increased along with the user base and ad campaign.

All the new users can register by visiting freekall.co or by sending an SMS in this format REG<SPACE>AGE<SPACE>GENDER<SPACE>PINCODE to 8082812345 eg: REG 21 M 577203
