Monday September 07, 2015 , 2 min Read

Power and automation technology solutions group ABB said it has surpassed its installed base of 2 GW of solar inverter capacity in India. “ABB has become the first company in the country to surpass an installed base of 2 GW of solar inverter capacity, doubling the 1 GW installed base it had in March 2015”, a statement issued in Mumbai stated. The additional 1 GW came from multiple orders from leading solar power developers and from selling components to solar EPCs, it said.

“India is one of the world’s fastest growing solar markets, and ABB has steadily built this business up over the years. This has provided invaluable insights into the local needs and allows us to continue innovating solutions for the country”, company’s Discrete Automation and Motion Division President, Pekka Tiitinen said. “Today we can deliver up to 3 GW of inverter capacity from Bengaluru each year, supported by local engineering and service expertise”, Tiitinen added. The Bengaluru facility manufacturers its PVS800 central inverter series rated from 100 KW to 1 MW, which are designed for multi megawatt PV power plants as well as large PV installations on commercial and industrial buildings, the release stated.
