This retired army man works as a security guard by day and teaches slum children by night

Brijendra who retired from the army, is a security guard at the Allahabad Bank ATM in Majra, Dehradun, Uttarakhand. In the evening, children who are forced into labour and begging gather around him-to learn. He teaches around 24 children from the nearby slums under the light of the ATM. His classes also include the value of discipline.

Brijendra has been carrying out this philanthropic duty for the last 16 years. His effort is an inspiration to all the teachers involved in the literacy mission and primary schools, shares Narendra Singh Negi who also deserves a special mention.
