15 August 2009: YourStory.in, India’s leading online media and networking platform for first generation entrepreneurs in collaboration with Sun Startup Essentials, a division of Sun Microsystems is launching “The Most Popular Entrepreneur Challenge 09”, an online contest for entrepreneurs that measures their popularity and zest. Supporting the initiative as partners are Mumbai Angel Network, Times Private Treaties, Morpheus Venture Partners, Yuva Magazine, Aikon Labs, Leverage – IIMA, EDC IIT Delhi, Clearpath Technology, LS Solutions and a new concept from iDuple called The Startup Garage
The month long contest will run from 1 Sep, 2009 to 30 Sep 2009 and will be conducted entirely online. Inviting registrations beginning from August 15, 2009, Shradha Sharma, founder YourStory.in said that “this is a unique contest in the fact that for the first time the winning metric is solely judged on the business acumen and networking abilities of the entrepreneurs. We are doing away with the more traditional competition parameters of judging business model viability, revenue growth rates, profitability and so on. The essence behind launching this contest is to celebrate and foster the spirit of entrepreneurship without passing any so-called expert views on the various business models adopted. The contest is completely online and one hundred percent community driven.”

The winner of the contest will walk away with a bouquet of prizes that include a cash prize of Rs 50,000, mentoring by Mumbai Angel Network, Times Private Treaties (part of the Bennett Coleman Group) Planet Aikon and Morpheus Venture Partners, nation-wide coverage and publicity by Yuva magazine, a two month search engine optimization programme by Clearpath Technology worth Rs 25,000, free web development by LS Solutions and a 6 month long software and application access from The Startup Garage.
