Entrepreneurship is all about motivation, and successful entrepreneurs motivate family and friends to start on their own. Pearl Uppal, erstwhile co-founder of Fashionandyou and partner at 5ideas motivated her mom to take her offline venture Talking Threads online. Talking Threads is a community, inspired by the Indian threads and India's artisan crafts, embroideries, and textiles.Currently, the startup offers seven categories including sarees, salwar-kameez, dupattas, tops, stole and shawls with others spanning across designs like Phulkari and Bagh, Kashida, Kutchi Parsi Gara, Ari, Zardozi, Kantha, Chikankari, Kalamkari, Tie and Dye, and Hand-block printing.

Talking Threads claims to deliver orders within 3-7 days; however, custom-stitched orders will take 14 business days to ship. For Cash on Delivery (COD) orders, consumers will have to shell out extra Rs 100. For fitting and measurement, Talking Threads offers comprehensive fitting and measurement guide.

Launched by Kulbir Uppal, Talking Threads will also cater to Indians living abroad in the coming months. Speaking about the venture, Pearl Uppal said, “I am helping my mother as an advisor; however, I don’t own anything in the venture.” The company plans to add home and decor category by the end of September. Talking Threads will also leverage other ecommerce portals for a wider reach. “We already have partnered with Yebhi and will have similar association with Jabong and NDTV’s Indianroots,” concluded Uppal.
