Want to keep track on revenue target? ActOnMagic might just help you

Want to keep track on revenue target? ActOnMagic might just help you

The passion to do something awesome and build a tech startup has been Madan Ganesh Velayudham’s dream since he left HP. Having gone through the experience of working in a MNC, a successful startup exit, and quality experience at Citrix, Madan got an opportunity to start ActOnMagic last October at the Nasscom Product Conclave.

ActOnMagic

ActOnMagic provides complete visibility and control over customer, business and operational challenges for cloud service providers and consumers. “The intersection of cloud, big-data and analytics is something I wanted to do. That’s how ActOnMagic started in January. I'm also an active developer and wrote 40% plus of product (i.e ActOnMagic),” says Madan.

Everyone used to advise Madan to look for a co-founder. “While there were many friends who were interested in ActOnMagic, all of them had EMI pressure and a few of them had prior liabilities at existing startups,” adds Madan. As of now he is the only founder of ActOnMagic.

Madna has over 13 years of experience in building scalable cloud products and expert systems. He has a decade long stint at HP and a brief four months stay at VMLogix, which was later acquired by Citrix.

The company helps CIO and operations team to plan their storage capacity and keep tab on infrastructure supply and vice versa. For business, it helps companies to measure product uptake and keep track on revenue target. “We have built an analytics store (just like app store) where customer can use the free analytics and also use premium analytics to solve their problems,” says Madan.

As a startup, it was a very difficult situation for ActOnMagic to convince people to join the startup “We had to speak to parents of the guys to convince them that this will enable your son to lead his own life,” says Madan.

Little help from LittleEyeLabs

“Kumar Rangarajan of Little Eye Labs is a good friend of mine. Little Eye Labs was acquired by networking giant Facebook. In April, Little Eye Labs donated some of their furniture to us. Half of the assets that we have are from the companies which were acquired by Citrix or Facebook,” adds Madan.

YourStory connection

“In one of the events organised by YourStory, we met a Singapore-based VC firm, which assured us that we are on right path. They liked our idea and were willing to consider us for their Q4 funding program, says Madan.

The company released its first version in early July and has 25 plus users who are using the product on a trial basis. “We are under NDA with big accounts. At this time I can say we are in the closing stage with a Middle East service provider and on an early stage with Sri Lankan SI and a big Indian service provider as well. One of the learning is that sales cycle for a service provider is any way between nine to 12 months,” says Madan.
