[Photo Sparks] Green buildings, smart cities – what will our future homes look like?
PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory, with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation! In this photo essay, we showcase cutting-edge designs of interiors, buildings and cities from the annual Singapore Design Week.
In the earlier 40 posts, we brought you a wide range of creative photographs from an art fair, world music festival, painting fair, telecom expo, art museum, mobile showcase, math museum, social hackathon, bookstore, co-working space, sensorium, lantern festival, flower show, outdoor ads, startup roadshow, computer museum, startup T-shirts, business cards, art therapy, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, jazz festival, ecopreneurs, painter-poets, health activists, eNGOs and digital innovators.
Tech entrepreneurs, designers and artists are changing the world in ways, scales and speeds never seen before. We are in the Golden Age of Design, as experience design becomes a key success factor in areas ranging from smart cities and digital media to green homes and eco-friendly furniture. Singapore Design Week is an international conference and expo held in a range of venues including the Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, National Design Centre and Museum of Art and Design.
In this collection of photos featuring exhibits from the three venues, we celebrate the spirit of creative design of the world around us, even as we get increasingly sucked into digital space (see also my earlier articles from Singapore Design Week with tips for design of products, experiences and digital interaction). Many countries, including India, have a serious ‘design deficit’ in urban planning, user-friendly products, online media and eco-friendly buildings. How will we gear up to meet these growing challenges of the 21st century?
