[Photo Sparks] From fledgling to Flipkart: startups and unicorns at GMIC 2015
PhotoSparks is a weekly feature from YourStory, with photographs that celebrate the spirit of creativity and innovation. In this showcase, we feature some of the unicorns and mobile startups from China and India at the Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) 2015!
In the earlier 60 posts, we brought you a wide range of creative photographs from an art fair, world music festival, painting fair, telecom expo, art museum, mobile showcase, math museum, social hackathon, bookstore, co-working space, sensorium, international design week, flower show, outdoor ads, startup roadshow, computer museum, startup T-shirts, business cards, art therapy, startup festival, Diwali rangoli, Vesak, jazz festival, modern art gallery, ecopreneurs, painter-poets, health activists, eNGOs and digital innovators.
The Global Mobile Internet Conference (GMIC) 2015, organised by the Great Wall Club, was held in Bangalore this week with the theme ‘Mobile Everything – Connecting Innovation’ (see Part I of the photo showcase here). Unicorns, or startups with a staggering valuation of over a billion dollars, have sprung up in India as well – and five of them were at GMIC Bangalore: Flipkart, Ola, Snapdeal, Paytm and InMobi. In the next article, we will bring you insights into the future of mobile innovation from the founders of these unicorns.
In this photo showcase, we feature some of the startups who took part in the G-Startup Competition at GMIC Bangalore. Twenty shortlisted startups displayed their offerings at booths, and the winner – deep learning startup HyperVerge - received a pass to attend GMIC Beijing 2016, along with airfare! In addition, Atul Satija, Founder of The Nudge Foundation (and formerly with InMobi), gave awards to a range of change-makers: Rescue Rangers, Morph.org, AgroStar and Rang De.
We already look forward to the 2016 editions of GMIC around the world!
