Gurgaon-based IndiaCollegeSearch, an online search engine for colleges, courses and universities has raised under $1 million from Indian Angel Network (IAN) members Anupam Mittal, Vikram Upadhyaya, and Varun Khurana. Following the investment Upadhyaya and Khurana will join the board of the company.

The raised investment would be used for product and business development including app development. IndiaCollegeSearch offers regularly updated and detailed information about over 12,000 professional colleges in India. Students can access detailed information about a college on the platform, which includes information about infrastructure, faculty, placement track record, as well as starting salaries and names of hiring companies. Students can also create a shortlist of colleges by their scores in entrance exams

Started by Anirudh Motwani and Parul Bansal in 2010, IndiaCollegeSearch has been incubated by IAN, and importantly this is the first time IAN funded in its incubatee startup. Currently, the startup claims that it has been growing 100% quarter-on-quarter over the last three quarters, in terms of visitors, traffic, and queries. IndiaCollegeSearch competes with Pune based YourNextLeap.

Indian Angel Network has invested over 50 startups in sectors such as IT, healthcare, mobile and education, both in India and abroad. So far, this year, the network has invested in six companies such as SnapLion, Rankjunction and Mobilewalla.
