Hrithik Roshan is keen on investing in startups
Close on the heels of launching his own casual wear brand HRx, Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan expressed his willingness to invest in technologies such as startups, but is awaiting a concept to take shape which will provide opportunities for people to grow.
"Why not? I am very proactive in my mind about being enabled and give opportunities and platform for people to grow. We have lot of talent and it needs to be nurtured. So if I find something that I believe in I would invest my efforts and money in. It could be startups or could be on the lines of sendmygift.com," he said after the launch an e-commerce marketplace for gifting in Bengaluru. Hrithik launched the online gift portal sendmygift.com, designed by the TGS Group. It will help people select and deliver apt gifts for their loved ones.
Many celebrities like cricketer Yuvraj Singh had invested in business and had launched YouWeCan Ventures, which has made investments in JetSetGo, a marketplace for private jets and helipcopters. The cricketer also invested in Cybiz Brightstar Restaurants Private Limited, a company that has been entrusted by US-based premium burger chain Carl's Jr to open 100 franchises across India. Also, recently, ace Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal showed her interest to invest in various business ventures.
Asked if he would invest on startups catering the fashion, film or glamour world, Hrithik said it could be anything and he would be happy if it could contribute towards making the world a better place to live. "It could be anything (not only in the field of glamour, film or fashion). For me, it has to be something that has to be a contribution to the world for better place," he said. Hrithik already has launched his own casual wear brand, HRx, which had debuted online through an exclusive partnership with Myntra.com. Brand HRx is entirely owned by the actor.
In the past, several celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Rampal, Shilpa Shetty, Amitabh Bachchan, Zeenat Aman, Lata Mangeshkar and cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni have launched products, mostly fragrances, in their names. Talking about sendmygift.com, portal chairman and managing director Mandeep Kaur said, "Latest research shows that the most of the gifting is done by the people between the age group of 18-35, so by associating with celebrities such as Hrithik, Sendmygift is aiming to reach out to this target segment."
Portal Co-Founder Chinta Shyamasundar said in coming years the portal will set a benchmark and change the dynamics of gifting industry. "With over 7,000 plus sellers on board, who are spread across the nation, a highly responsive fast delivery network and a strong infrastructure already in place, SMG is going to become a one-stop shop for customers," he said. The portal will offer customers a variety of gifting options to suit the occasion, starting from flower bouquets to key-chains, cakes to dry fruits and chocolates, e-commerce market place offers a vast range of gifts, Shyamasundar said.
