CometChat secures $6.5M funding led by Run Ventures
The company said the fresh capital is aimed squarely at building production-grade AI agents that go beyond simple chatbots to proactively engage customers and personalise experiences.
CometChat, an in-app communication platform, has received a $6.5 million growth capital injection led by Run Ventures, a move designed to accelerate the company’s shift from communication infrastructure to an AI agents platform for enterprises.
The funding, described by CometChat as precision capital, will bankroll a rapid roll-out of its CometChat AI offering and deepen its push into high-transaction sectors.
The round leaves CometChat with $21.1 million raised to date and follows a $10 million Series A.
CometChat said the fresh capital is aimed squarely at building production-grade AI agents that go beyond simple chatbots to proactively engage customers and personalise experiences.
At the heart of CometChat AI are three technical pillars that define what the company calls next-generation conversational automation.
Proactive outbound intelligence means agents can monitor triggers such as restock alerts or refund delays and reach out to customers before they complain. Multi-agent orchestration is a visual workflow builder that lets non-technical teams coordinate specialist agents for tasks such as billing or scheduling. The customer intelligence layer automatically extracts preferences so future interactions feel personalised across web, SMS, WhatsApp, and voice.
“The current fund raise is specifically done to accelerate our AI play. Our GTM in this vertical would be to target high-transaction verticals like wellness & beauty, home services, e-comm, hospitality & food service where the combination of inbound responsiveness and proactive outreach drives measurable retention and revenue outcomes,” said Anuj Garg, Co-founder and chief executive of CometChat.
Run Ventures, which has backed early-stage technology firms and recently launched larger funds of its own, emphasised the operational traction CometChat has shown.
“We have witnessed how methodically Anuj and Anant have scaled the business to make CometChat an intelligent communication layer with several proven use cases. The company has been piloting its AI platform with encouraging early signs as enterprise customers have come onboard,” said Brandon Tidwell, co-founder and general partner at Run Ventures.
Over the next 12 to 18 months, CometChat plans to scale pilot projects into full deployments, widen channel coverage, and strengthen its enterprise sales and engineering teams. It is also focusing on sectors such as healthcare and ecommerce, where AI-led customer engagement can influence retention and revenue.
