Deeptech startup BQP bags $5M in seed round led by Monta Vista Capital
The deeptech startup will primarily utilise the funds to fuel the development of its unified digital‑twin platform, BQPhy, which targets critical sectors such as aerospace, defence, and semiconductors.
Deeptech startup BQP (BosonQ Psi) has raised $5 million in a seed round led by Monta Vista Capital, bringing its total funding to $6.6 million.
The round also saw participation from Empire State Development’s New York Ventures, Arc Ventures, Armory Square Ventures, Emergent Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Arka Venture Labs, Transpose Platform, Gainangels, and Pranatech Venture Capital.
The funds will primarily be utilised to fuel the development of BQP’s unified digital‑twin platform, BQPhy, which targets critical sectors such as aerospace, defence (A&D), and semiconductors.
“Our recently secured funding is allocated to achieve two primary objectives. Firstly, we aim to penetrate deeper into the aerospace and defence (A&D) sector. This will involve expanding our market reach, enhancing our sales and marketing efforts specifically tailored for A&D clients, and scaling the deployment of our BQPhy product within this critical industry,” Abhishek Chopra, Founder, CEO, and Chief Scientific Officer, BQP, tells YourStory.
“Secondly, a significant portion of the funding will be dedicated to scaling our R&D efforts, particularly focusing on quantum-native approaches. This is crucial for us to develop next-generation solutions that leverage the unique capabilities of quantum computing,” he added.
Some of the other key angel investors participating in the round include Paradigm Shift Capital and the Griffiss Institute, which joined the round as part of the Mojave Aerospace Accelerator Fund.
The fresh funding also follows a collaboration with the Air Force Research Laboratory Aerospace Systems Directorate (AFRL/RQ) under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to build modelling and simulation capabilities with quantum computing.
BQP has developed BQPhy for hybrid architectures, such as CPUs, GPUs, and future quantum processors, and claims to deliver a 10X performance boost. The startup’s design partners include a Tier I aerospace manufacturer, the Ministry of Heavy Industries, along with working with ecosystem players such as Intel, IBM, Classiq, and Strangeworks.
“BQP directly tackles critical bottlenecks in the rapidly evolving $22 billion simulation industry, where conventional technologies have struggled to keep pace with innovation demands in sectors like aerospace and defence, semiconductor, and energy,” said Roger Krakoff, Partner at Monta Vista Capital.
BQP, headquartered in Syracuse, New York, with a technology hub in Bengaluru, is a quantum‑first simulation firm building next‑generation digital‑twin platforms for critical sectors. Its flagship solution, BQPhy, plugs into existing CPU/GPU workflows without needing quantum hardware.
