ElevenLabs rolls out AI model that can whisper, laugh, and sing
The Eleven v3 text-to-speech model can be prompted to whisper, laugh, sing, and change tone and accents. It is primarily built for creators, developers, and enterprises working on expressive content, such as stories, audiobooks, and interactive media.
New York-based AI voice company ElevenLabs has launched Eleven v3, its latest text-to-speech model that makes speech sound more natural and human-like.
Built on a new architecture, Eleven v3 can change tone mid-sentence, switch between characters smoothly, and respond to cues like whispers, laughs, and sighs. This is an early (alpha) version of the model.
“Eleven v3 is the most expressive text-to-speech model ever - offering full control over emotions, delivery, and nonverbal cues. With audio tags, you can prompt it to whisper, laugh, change accents, or even sing. You can control the pacing, emotion, and style to match any script. And with our global mission, we are happy to extend the model with support for over 70 languages,” said Mati Staniszewski, Co-Founder & CEO, ElevenLabs.
The company says this version requires more detailed prompts than earlier versions, offering much more control and emotional depth in the output.
The Eleven v3 model is primarily built for creators, developers, and enterprises working on expressive content, including stories, audiobooks, character dialogue, and interactive media that require lifelike or emotionally rich speech.
ElevenLabs has also expanded its language support from 33 to over 70 languages, growing its coverage from 60% to 90% of the world’s population. It plans to improve reliability in future updates, it said in a statement.
ElevenLabs' Dialogue Mode allows the model to handle natural interruptions, tone shifts, and emotional flow across multiple speakers. The company plans to offer streaming support for real-time applications, including call centres and conversational agents, shortly.
