Flipkart Co-founder Binny Bansal invests $20M in ecommerce AI startup ShopOS
The Bengaluru-based startup plans to use the funding to expand its platform development, grow its product and engineering teams, and acquire new brand partners internationally.
AI startup ShopOS has raised $20 million in a funding round led by Co-founder Binny Bansal’s 3STATE Ventures.
The Bengaluru-based startup plans to use the funding to expand its platform development, grow its product and engineering teams, and acquire new brand partners internationally.
“ShopOS is an AI-native operating system for ecommerce. It’s an agent-driven stack that lets brands make, market, and manage their stores,” Ajay P V, Co-founder of ShopOS, told YourStory.
“Our aim is to give any brand access to this OS and let them customise it to their product lines, making operations faster, smarter, and more efficient, while delivering better experiences for shoppers. Brands currently deploy hundreds of people on repetitive tasks that AI can handle instantly. The efficiency gains are immediate for brands and quickly translate into value for customers,” he added.
Founded by Sai Krishna V K and Ajay P V, who previously co-founded Scapic, an AI and augmented reality platform, the firm is building an AI-native operating system for ecommerce brands.
Scapic was acquired by Flipkart in 2020 to strengthen its shopping experience capabilities.
Following the acquisition, both founders led Flipkart Labs, focusing on building deeptech solutions. The founding team now includes Karan Sonawala, who previously worked at Flipkart, developing AI-based user experiences for the e-commerce platform's customer base.
“ShopOS is building the commerce stack of the future with AI at its core. The potential for an AI-driven operating system to empower brands, particularly in navigating cross-border commerce and hyper-personalisation, is a lot. Sai and Ajay have the proven ecommerce and technical expertise required to execute this vision,” said Binny Bansal in a statement.
The startup currently offers an AI-integrated platform designed to automate various ecommerce operations for brands. The company's system focuses on three primary functions such as content creation, marketing automation, and store personalisation.
It uses AI to generate product descriptions, images, and videos based on a brand's established style and requirements across different markets and sales channels.
The system also creates localised advertising campaigns, manages campaign workflows, and performs customer segmentation to support brand expansion efforts.
“For years, brands have been constrained by the very tools meant to empower them. The dream of a truly dynamic and adaptable store has remained out of reach,” said Sai Krishna V K, Co-founder of ShopOS.
“What we’re excited about is the emerging potential of ambient agents. These don't just assist as well execute key commerce functions, all in the background. Generative commerce is in early days, but it's increasingly clear that the way we shop is going to fundamentally change soon,” he added.
The platform will also help brands modify online store layouts, content, and product recommendations in real-time based on individual visitor behavior patterns.
ShopOS currently has early customers in India, Europe, and the UAE, with plans to onboard more brands in the coming year.
