Google Cloud India, TechBharat launch AI Centre of Excellence for public good
Google Cloud India and TechBharat have set up India’s first AI Centre of Excellence for Public Good in Visakhapatnam under the IndiaAI Mission, with a 120‑day fellowship model and projects aimed at governance, citizen services and disaster response.
Google Cloud India and the TechBharat Research Foundation have opened an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Public Good in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, positioning the hub within the government’s IndiaAI Mission and Digital Public Infrastructure agenda.
The CoE will reportedly develop deployable AI solutions for governance and essential citizen services. Priority tracks include disaster response, education, land management and public safety, with projects designed to move from prototyping to field use alongside government departments.
Google Cloud will provide access to cloud credits and technical mentorship through the Google for Startups Cloud programme, alongside expert guidance and community resources to support production‑grade public sector solutions.
TechBharat will anchor programme design and on‑ground collaboration.
TechBharat AI Fellowship
The CoE has launched a full‑time, 120‑day AI Fellowship scheduled to run three times a year. It targets more than 80 fellows and 100 interns annually, with stipends and accommodation, and will embed participants inside departments to co‑build deployable prototypes.
TechBharat Research Foundation is a not‑for‑profit based in Hyderabad. Corporate filings list Sridhar Gadhi as a director of the foundation since 1 October 2020.
