Google launches AI Storybook feature to generate illustrated tales for children
The new feature is designed primarily for children, which combines AI-generated visuals and narration to create engaging content in over 45 languages.
Tech giant Google has introduced a new feature called Storybook within its Gemini AI chatbot, helping users to create personalised, 10-page illustrated stories simply by describing a prompt.
The new feature is designed primarily for children, which combines AI-generated visuals and narration to create engaging content in over 45 languages.
“Today we’re announcing a new way to bring your ideas to life in the Gemini app: personalised, illustrated storybooks complete with read-aloud narration. Simply describe any story you can imagine, and Gemini generates a unique 10-page book with custom art and audio. For a truly personal touch, you can ask Gemini to draw inspiration from your own photos and files,” read the company’s blog.

Users can choose from various artistic styles, such as claymation, crochet, anime, pixel art, and comics, by uploading their own images for reference. The platform then creates short story paragraphs along with supporting illustrations and read-aloud audio.
For example, parents can use the feature to simplify complex topics, such as generating a story that explains the solar system to a five-year-old.
It can also be used to teach life lessons, like creating a tale for a seven-year-old about the importance of being kind to his younger brother, with an elephant as the main character to match the child’s interests.
The Storybook feature offers parents a new interactive way to engage their children beyond traditional storytelling methods. With the help of AI, it combines personalised narratives with visuals and audio, allowing parents to showcase stories reflecting a child’s interests.
