NVIDIA partners with Andhra Pradesh govt to launch AI university, train 10,000 students
Nvidia has partnered with Andhra Pradesh to launch an AI university in Amaravati, aiming to train 10,000 students and support 500 startups, as India accelerates its push in AI education.
The Andhra Pradesh government has signed a new agreement with global tech company Nvidia to open a university focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The goal: train 10,000 engineering students and support 500 AI startups in the next two years.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Nvidia and Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for IT and Electronics, Nara Lokesh.
The AI university will be set up in Amaravati and aims to become a major hub for AI education, research, and innovation.
What the Nvidia-Andhra Pradesh deal includes
As part of the deal, Nvidia will provide:
- Support in building the AI curriculum
- Advanced computing infrastructure
- Training for faculty members
- Startup support through the Nvidia Inception program
According to IT Minister Lokesh, the initiative is part of Andhra Pradesh’s larger plan to become a top destination for tech and innovation.
India’s bigger push toward AI education
This development comes as India sees a surge in efforts to expand AI education across the country.
IIT Madras, one of India’s top engineering institutes, recently launched five free AI courses on the government’s SWAYAM Plus platform.
These courses are open to everyone—including students, teachers, and professionals—with no coding experience required. The topics include AI in chemistry, cricket analytics, and data science, all created by the faculty of IIT Madras.
Similarly, Symbiosis International University in Pune has announced the opening of a new institute dedicated to AI.
Starting July 2025, it will offer undergraduate programs like B.Sc. and BBA in Artificial Intelligence. Students will also be able to choose minors in fields like fintech, healthcare, and sustainability. The goal is to prepare students for real-world use of AI across industries.
