OpenAI releases ChatGPT Pulse, a "proactive assistant" to follow up on chats, emails
OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Pulse, a mobile‑only preview for Pro users that delivers daily, personalised update cards from past chats, memory and optional Gmail/Calendar connectors—positioning ChatGPT as a more proactive assistant while keeping privacy controls front and centre.
OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Pulse, a mobile-only preview for Pro subscribers that has delivered personalised morning briefings generated from past chats, memory and optional connectors such as Gmail and Google Calendar.
Framed as a step toward a more proactive assistant, Pulse has arrived as topical “cards” that users can scan, open for detail, save, or follow up on.
A mobile-first preview for ChatGPT Pro
Announced on 25 September 2025, Pulse has been made available first to Pro users on iOS and Android; it is not currently available on web or desktop. The feature has required ChatGPT’s memory to be enabled and can be switched off at any time via settings. Connector integrations remain opt-in.
How it works: asynchronous research and visual cards
Once a day, ChatGPT carries out research in the background drawing on a user’s chat history, saved memories and feedback to assemble a focused set of visual update cards for the next morning.
Users can curate future editions via a “curate” control, give a thumbs-up/down on individual items, and expand any card to dive deeper or ask follow-up questions.
OpenAI has said Pulse is designed to be finite so people can “get back to what matters”, rather than endlessly scrolling.
Does Pulse train on my data?
Content from Gmail and Google Calendar connectors has not been used to train OpenAI’s models; these connectors are off by default and can be disconnected at any time.
Interactions you save as chats may be used to improve ChatGPT only if you have opted in to “Improve the model for everyone.” Otherwise, your conversations are excluded from training.
Daily cards are reportedly deleted after a day unless you save or engage with them, at which point they live in your chat history and can be deleted like any other conversation.
Privacy controls and curation
Pulse has surfaced topics using a blend of signals: your saved memories, card interactions, direct curation requests, and, if enabled, data from connected apps while applying layered safety checks to block harmful content. Users can review or delete feedback history and can disable Pulse or memory entirely.
Availability and price
Pulse has begun rolling out on 25 September 2025 as a preview inside the ChatGPT mobile apps for Pro subscribers. ChatGPT Pro is priced at $200 per month in the US, with Pro customers typically getting early access to new features.
