Perplexity to generate AI videos to answer queries, share directly on X
Perplexity is turning AI search responses into fast, shareable videos on X—blending text, voice, and visuals into one-click content.
Perplexity, the AI-driven search startup, has added video generation capabilities to its chatbot—directly integrated with Elon Musk’s social platform, X (formerly Twitter).
The announcement was made by Perplexity’s CEO Aravind Srinivas on X, where he shared an AI-generated video about Intel’s Lunar Lake chips, showcasing the feature in action.
The new update allows users to ask Perplexity about trending topics, recent news, or technical concepts and receive a brief video summary that is instantly shareable on X.
These videos feature a voiceover narration with dynamic visuals, combining animation, text overlays, and stock imagery to explain complex topics in an easily digestible format.
How it works
Users can prompt Perplexity’s chatbot with a question or topic. If the query qualifies for video generation, the chatbot will not only provide a text response but also include a “video” button.
Upon clicking, a short, automated video is generated summarising the answer, often styled like an explainer or news snippet.
The company appears to be experimenting with a blend of AI summarisation, synthetic voice, and automated visual composition. The feature is currently being tested with select users and topics, primarily focused on technology and current affairs.
Bringing AI content to social platforms
By integrating with X, Perplexity enables its users to create and share video content without leaving the platform, potentially increasing engagement and virality.
This also hints at Elon Musk’s wider vision for turning X into an “everything app.” With Grok, X’s built-in chatbot, and partnerships with startups like Perplexity, the platform appears to be positioning itself as a hub for AI-powered knowledge and content sharing.
Implications for content and creators
For creators and influencers, this feature could streamline the process of repurposing written insights into engaging video content. It also offers a new avenue for thought leaders, researchers, and brands to quickly distribute informative videos on emerging topics without production overhead.
