You can now schedule tasks on WhatsApp after Perplexity AI update
Perplexity AI now lets users schedule and manage tasks directly through WhatsApp, bringing conversational AI features to India’s most popular messaging platform.
Perplexity AI has introduced a new feature that enables users to schedule and manage tasks directly through WhatsApp. This update is part of the company’s broader effort to bring AI-powered assistance to commonly used platforms, making everyday productivity more seamless and accessible.
The new WhatsApp integration was announced on June 24, 2025. It allows users to set reminders, schedule tasks, and ask Perplexity’s AI assistant to manage to-do lists, all from within their WhatsApp chats. The feature is designed to mimic natural conversations, offering users an intuitive way to interact with artificial intelligence without needing to switch apps.
How it works
Users can activate the Perplexity AI assistant on WhatsApp by saving the service’s number +1 (833) 436-3285 to your contacts, open WhatsApp on your preferred device and start talking. Once initiated, users can simply type commands such as “Remind me to call the bank at 3 PM” or “Schedule a meeting with Rahul tomorrow at 10 AM.” The assistant then confirms and logs the task, storing it in the user’s account or linked calendar.
Perplexity AI’s system relies on natural language processing to understand user intent and offers quick, context-aware responses. The integration also supports recurring tasks and time-zone-based scheduling, ensuring flexibility for users across geographies.
Focus on accessibility and ease of use
The decision to roll out task scheduling on WhatsApp reflects Perplexity’s emphasis on accessibility. WhatsApp has over 500 million users in India alone and more than 2 billion users globally, making it an ideal platform for AI-driven personal productivity tools.
This feature targets users who may not typically use standalone task management apps. By embedding scheduling functionality within WhatsApp, Perplexity aims to bridge the gap between casual users and advanced productivity tools.
According to the company, no additional app downloads or installations are required. Users can manage tasks directly from their chat window, with the AI assistant handling updates, modifications, and cancellations in real time.
Privacy and data handling
Perplexity AI stated that all conversations and task data are end-to-end encrypted when communicated via WhatsApp. The company has assured users that it does not store personal messages beyond what is necessary to execute and manage tasks. Users also have the option to delete scheduled tasks at any time by sending simple commands like “Delete all reminders” or “Cancel today’s tasks.”
While the task scheduling feature is currently available in English, Perplexity has plans to expand language support in future updates. The company is also evaluating user feedback to improve contextual understanding and support more complex task flows.
