Exclusive: Terex Ventures, Tokyo AI to fuel AI investments across India, Japan, UAE
The joint effort aims to connect prominent investors and AI-focused enterprises with growth-stage companies, strengthening market expansion in key global hubs.
Global investment and advisory firm Terex Ventures has collaborated with Tokyo AI, an AI community based in Japan, to fuel $200 million in cross-border investments in artificial intelligence across India, Japan, and the UAE.
The joint effort aims to connect prominent investors and AI-focused enterprises with growth-stage companies, strengthening market expansion in key global hubs, it said in a statement.
“We have established this collaboration with the Tokyo AI community in Japan to bring maximum resources for the companies that are developing innovative AI products in India. This initiative aims to create a platform for Indian startups to enter and establish their businesses in the Japanese market,” Priyanka Madnani, Founder and CEO of Terex Ventures, told YourStory.
“Most founders haven’t even thought of targeting the Japanese market for their product because of communication barriers and a general lack of access. By filling that gap, we want to show them that Japan can be a viable global platform. This corridor will empower more entrepreneurs to consider Japan as a target market, attract funding, and get their show running," she added.
Backed by global tech companies including and , Tokyo AI primarily focuses on strengthening partnerships and funding networks in emerging AI ecosystems.
Dubai-based Terex Ventures will serve as the local partner in India and the UAE by helping connect high-growth Indian startups with Japanese investors looking for opportunities beyond the seed stage.
The primary focus of the initiative is to open doors for Indian startups to access Japanese capital, form partnerships, and expand into new markets. At the same time, Japanese companies will get a chance to tap into the fast-scaling homegrown AI ventures.
Madnani added that access to capital under the initiative will be structured through equity investments, partnerships, and even mergers or semi-mergers, depending on the stage of the startup.
"Japan’s capital is shifting focus to growth-stage ventures with proven business models. Through this collaboration, we're building a trusted bridge between two of the most dynamic tech ecosystems in the world," said Isamu Koyama, Foundry Lead, Tokyo AI.
As part of the initiative, Terex Ventures and Tokyo AI will launch a Pan-Asia AI Roadshow across cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru to connect Indian startups with investors from Japan and the UAE, while strengthening ties between the two ecosystems.
