Wonderful enters India as enterprise AI adoption gathers pace

Amsterdam-based enterprise AI company Wonderful has launched its India operations, betting on growing demand for large-scale AI deployments.

The company has appointed Bhavik Rathod as the managing director for India and will establish its office in Mumbai, where it plans to expand engineering, deployment, and go-to-market teams over the next year.

The move comes at a time when Indian businesses are increasingly looking beyond isolated AI pilots towards enterprise-wide deployments that can automate workflows, improve customer service, and modernise legacy technology systems. However, many organisations continue to face challenges in integrating AI tools across departments while maintaining governance, security, and regulatory oversight.

Wonderful believes large-scale AI implementation will create opportunities beyond the experimental phase, which has characterised much of the market so far. It aims to help Indian enterprises deploy AI across business functions including customer support, sales, human resources, operations, and engineering. The company describes its platform as an AI operating system, which is designed to provide a common layer that connects AI agents, applications, workflows and governance across an organisation rather than operating as standalone tools.

“Indian enterprises are moving quickly from exploring AI to identifying where it can deliver measurable business value. As organisations look to scale successful deployments, they need partners who can work alongside their teams and execute at speed,” said Rathod, explaining the company’s rationale for expanding into the country.

He added that Wonderful views India as “a long-term growth market” and intends to build local partnerships while strengthening customers’ internal AI capabilities over time.

The company said its platform is model-agnostic and cloud-agnostic. It also supports multiple forms of AI interaction including voice, chat, image and video, while allowing organisations to adopt individual capabilities.

Rathod brings more than two decades of experience in India’s technology sector, including leading the launch and expansion of Uber Eats in the country. Wonderful said his experience in scaling businesses and building local teams would support its long-term ambitions in the Indian market.

The expansion also highlights increasing global competition for India’s enterprise AI market. Technology companies are investing heavily in local infrastructure and partnerships as businesses seek secure and compliant AI deployments.

Microsoft recently opened its largest data centre hub in India in Hyderabad to support growing enterprise demand for cloud and AI services. Earlier this year, OpenAI announced partnerships aimed at expanding sovereign AI infrastructure, workforce development, and enterprise adoption in the country.

Founded in 2025, Wonderful operates in more than 35 markets. The company recently raised $150 million in a Series B funding round, taking its total funding to around $300 million.
