Neyveli-based BluKhet uses soil-less farming techniques such as hydroponics to produce fresh, healthy, and clean food. By setting up low-cost hyper-local farms on wastelands, they not just create a social impact, but also enable exotic crops to be relished at economical prices. They design the farm, set-up the infrastructure, operate the farm and sell the produce to their vendors. They are in a collaboration with Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) and are setting up commercial hydroponic farms on the mining wastelands of Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Ltd (NLCIL).
