Popular Blogger, Social Media Specialist, Successful Entrepreneur are some of the words that are commonly used to describe Kiruba Shankar, Chennai based founder of two specialist firms Business Blogging Pvt Ltd and F5ive Technologies, Kiruba talks to Your Story team on his journey so far and his plans for the future...

"Both my firms were started to meet the gap in the market to intelligently handle social media and web development. While Business Blogging leverages the social media space, F5ive Technologies enables open source web development and management for corporates and businesses in India."

So what triggered the entrepreneur in him to take the proverbial plunge, after all from what we know he had a very happening corporate job, (with stints in Sify and Sulekha.com) and was an asset to the companies he worked for?

"Yes, I did work with some very good firms and did some equally good work but the proverbial bug had always been there in me waiting for the right time to take the leap.

Infact in my last corporate role as Associate Director for Sulekha I had the chance to be part of some interesting developments/initiatives, but after more than 13 years of experience I thought if not now then when? And then I took the plunge and went solo."

The reiteration of his leadership skills and solution oriented approach yielded high dividends when he started his own firm, as he says almost 95% of his clients are through referrals and word of mouth. Having been blogging for close to 7 years now, he is one of India's earliest bloggers and adds credibility to his corporate blogging and social media practice.

Besides successfully running his venture he is also the co-founder of The Knowledge Foundation, a non-profit body that believes in the spirit of sharing knowledge.

He is also the co founder of Proto.in, one of the biggest entrepreneurship event in India.

This multi talented maverick is also a popular teacher in Asian College of Journalism, Anna University and Madras Advertising Club, and also finds time to share his knowledge by writing regular technology columns in Business Standard and The Indian Express.

Road Ahead: Expect lot of action from this entrepreneur, as he says wait and watch but we were privy to the fact that he is seriously planning to enter the events space as he thinks it is still under leveraged in India in the technology, social media and entrepreneurship space!
